Customer Reviews

I bought the Koss QZ900 headphones, after a lot of research, as a lower cost alternative to the Bose QC-2 headphones. I've had a chance to compare them to both the QC-2 and QC-3. No question, the Bose QC-2 (over the ear) headphones have the edge. However, I did not care for the QC-3 (on the ear) headphones. On a recent trip across the Atlantic, the airline I was on distributed the Bose QC-3 headphones for use during the flight. I tried the Bose QC-3s, put them up, and used my Koss QZ900 headphones instead.

The Koss headphones sound nearly as good, and have nearly as good noise cancellation as the Bose QC-2. They are light, compact, use a AA battery, and have a volume control on the removable cord. The one negative about the product is that the carrying case is larger (thicker) than it has to be.

If money is no object, go with the Bose QC-2s. If you can't justify the $270 for heaphones, the Koss QZ900s are a good choice.

I only use noise-canceling headphones when flying, so my experience is based entirely on that. I had a pair of on-ear noise-canceling headphones for several years, the ear pieces of which finally disintegrated. I liked them, but I found it difficult to locate new earpieces that fit and decided to splurge on the Bose 15s. They were very good, but I just couldn't reconcile myself to the price, and took advantage of the free trial/free return offer. I tried these Koss OZ900s instead, and am glad I made the switch.

I believe the Koss headphonese are about equal in sound quality compared to the Bose, and I think these are slightly more comfortable. I found that the Bose would make my head a bit sweaty after hours of use, and I haven't had that problem with the Koss. I think the noise canceling may be slightly more robust on the Bose, but it's more than adequate on the Koss. And I particularly like the in-line volume control on the Koss; I could never find the right volume level on the Bose using the plane's audio control---the lowest setting was too low, and the next highest setting was too high. The Koss headphones solve that problem easily with their own continous volume control.

In all, recommended!
