Repairing this portion of the phone is not a simple task...even for the experienced technician. Not only is it small and delicate, but the way it fits in the phone requires you to practically take the whole thing apart. Also, you need to remove three pieces off the original to complete this piece. Each of these pieces are attached using that obnoxious foam that is sticky on two sides. If you're not careful, you can rip the foam in half and you won't be able to use it. Also, the plastic piece that comes off is attached with double sided tape that is cut to look like a grid so it's tough get off and reuse without folding the tape over itself. On the proximity sensor, there's a TINY rubber frame that surrounds the glass panel. You will want to use an X-ACTO 2 Knife with Cap, Silver (X3602) to get that thing off! Once the pieces are transferred over, all you need to do is put it back in! This process is tedious as well considering you have to fold and bend the flex cable the way the original was while sticking it to the original components. Fortunately this flex cable comes with the sticky portions already attached.

For those of you buying this to fix a power button that no longer depresses, you should check your phone first to see if your current power button is repairable. To do this, take your phone apart far enough to reach the two screws that hold down the power button. Once you see the flex cable with the little metal piece, see if you can press it. If you still hear it click, you can easily repair it by super gluing a very tiny piece of plastic or something that will give it a little rise. This allows the power button to be able to touch it again and make the connection. In fact, the only visible difference between this flex cable and the original is that it has a little piece of plastic on it. I didn't know this until I took the whole phone apart. Had I seen this, I would have saved the money and just fixed my power button since it was still working. Live and learn I guess.
